Eureka Math with Cengage New York
Eureka Math began as Engage New York and is highly rated as a comprehensive curriculum that is built in modules by grade level. Eureka asks for the “Why” to be answered and insists that students find multiple ways to find solutions, describe the elegance of math and the meaning behind the formula. Students must show their thinking everyday alongside their solutions. We use the mid-module assessment as a pre-assessment because we do not assume all children have the same skills or knowledge of math. Each teacher selects the lessons she/he will teach and students’ progress and are monitored daily to ensure their independent work is in the Zone of Proximal Development or Instructional level-the learning ‘sweet spot.’ Eureka is dynamic and inquiry based alongside being personalized.
